The Swiss Simmental cow it’s one of the most common breeds of cows.
From the brown spotted Simmental cows there are millions worldwide. From the purebreds but only a few hundred. Breeders want to save the last of their kind. Characteristic of the Simmental are its yellowish to red pied colour with the white head, the upturned horns and the heavy dewlap.

But in these animals is no longer pure-bred cows with Swiss ancestors. American, German or Dutch blood running through her veins. Together with Pro Specie Rara, the Swiss organization for the genetic diversity of animals and plants, want Breeders save the last of their kind. „Edelweiss Simmental“ is the new name for the old race out there in Switzerland for over 500 years.
